It was great being home for the weekend. After a relaxing Shabbos, we took the kids on a road trip to Charleston. The Russ family from Savannah joined us on our expedition.
The kids had a blast at the Charleston Children's Museum. They "had a ball" in the ball room, (testing the science of gravity repeatedly), made rain showers in the water room (sending boats down resulting waterways), did arts and crafts, and enjoyed a cute puppet show. The boat picture with three of the kids is in the special "low country" shrimp boat (what an interesting thing for our nice Jewish children to play with). It was a bit of a far cry from the Jewish Children's museum they were most recently in, but they had tons of fun nonetheless.
Our day ended nostalgically with a visit to our friends the Sytners (who we haven't seen since our days in Des Moines). They now have rabbinic positions in Charleston. We were very taken with the Low Country. Hopefully, we'll be able to come back some time and explore this beautiful area.
