We enjoyed a carefree family outing to Hilton Head where there were beautiful breezes and nice shady climbing trees (see pics). The day started out with a (free!) trolley ride from Sea Pines resort parking lot to Harbour Town. There, we climbed the 90 foot lighthouse and waved to the Atlanta Wargas through the webcam at the top, then enjoyed our sunflower seed butter sandwiches (Menschi's allergic to peanuts). Afterwards, the kids benched so beautifully for Rosh Chodesh (special grace after meals for the first of the month) that we were approached by impressed onlookers. Edy's ice cream and kosher cones was a real treat to find and a nice reward to boot! Menschi wasn't thrilled with his cone sans ice cream (it had eggs in it), but he was a good sport about it once extra cookies were tossed his way (quite a change from our trips with him in the past where he was always "tossing his cookies" in the opposite direction). The perfect climbing tree and an awesome tree fort nearby exhasted our final reserves and we headed for home. We can't wait to return and check out the bike paths around Sea Pines or the nature center they have there! In the meantime, we're using Labor Day to prepare for our big trip to Jacksonville and Rosh Hashana cooking (which, if the timing works out right, will be right after Menschi finishes treatment). We are so thankful to Hashem that Proton Beam is an option for us and hope that we can start our year off fresh with a new lease on life! Please put in an extra tefilloh (prayer) that this period should go smoothly and the desired effect should be achieved. Tentative schedule: tommorrow, sedation and scans; Wednesday, we meet with Dr. Marcus, Radiation Oncologist in JAX, as well as the docs at Nemour's children's Hospital; Thursday, "simulation" --- not sure what is entailed here.
Starting a week from today, G-d willing, Menachem Shalom will be getting all the remaining cancer zapped from his body on an outpatient basis daily for three weeks. I wonder if he'll glow?

I think he'll be glowing from happiness because he'll be getting rid of those no-good intruders!
Zap! You're gone. Only healthy cells allowed here.
It's such a mechaya that he was able to get into this better treatment.
