Beads of Courage

Menschi enjoyed stringing beads with a child life specialist as part of a national program called "beads of courage" http://www.beadsofcourage.net/stories.htm. Children earn special beads every time they have an infusion (a certain kind of bead), hospitalization (a different type of bead), takes medicine well (yet another), radiation (you guessed it, a glow in the dark bead), and so on. The necklaces become badges of courage culminating with a purple heart bead at the end of treatment. We look forward to earning the purple heart bead!!!
