SUPER STEM CELLS

How amazing is the human body! I have a new found appreciation for all of the daily miracles that occur in my body that I ordinarily take for granted. Stem cells are able to generate the white blood cells, platelets and red blood cells that are important for functions such as oxygen transport, clotting and immunity. Today Menschi had some of these super special cells taken from his blood. They will wait in the freezer for another 3 months and then be given back to him (autologous stem cell transplant). Recovery from a stem cell transplant that uses your own harvested stem cells is quicker than one that uses donor stem cells. There are also less complications.

The transplant team was able to get enough stem cells today so we won't need to return to have more cells taken, Hooray! Menschi slept through most of the procedure and then enjoyed a special music activity at the hospital. What a tzadikel.
Next, we're off to Savannah for some quality time with the whole family.
